President Emmerson Mnangagwa will today officially open the 59th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo.
The premier trade showcase kicked off on Tuesday the 24th of April and ends tomorrow.
The first three days are for business, while the ZITF gates open to the public for the last two days.
Some of the highlights of the trade fair so far have been the International Business Conference held on Wednesday which was officially opened by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and the CZI Original Equipment Manufacturers Breakfast Meeting on Thursday which saw Industry, Commerce and Enterprise Development Minister Dr Mike Bimha outlining government’s perspective on retooling of industries whose machinery is now obsolete.
President Mnangagwa and the First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa arrived in Bulawayo yesterday to a rousing welcome at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport.
Besides the official opening, the best exhibitors in various categories will be awarded prizes today, ranging from certificates, shields and trophies.
Observers say this year’s edition of the ZITF is one of the biggest in recent years, judging by the increased exhibition space taken up by traditional and new exhibitors; and this has been attributed to the Zimbabwe is open for business mantra enunciated by the new dispensation.
